services

All physical therapy appointments are scheduled for 55 minutes and are exclusively 1:1 with you and your physical therapist without use of aides or other support personnel. We will incorporate an individualized approach to assessing and treating your body’s specific needs.

Telehealth

TeleHealth appointments are 55-min treatments with any video-enabled device! We can assess functional strength and flexibility, movement patterns, balance, monitor your form, progress your exercises and stay on top of your plan of care! This is also an excellent way to assess your at-home workstations and look at your real-time body mechanics. TeleHealth visits are fully billable to most medical insurances.

Injury Rehabilitation

Injuries may arise from acute trauma such as an ankle sprain, a fall or a car accident; or they may be the result of an accumulation of microtraumas due to repetitive movements or sustained postures. In either case, we will assess what tissues are impacted and generating your symptoms and/or restrictions, as well as which factors influence your injury and recovery. With your movement system diagnosis in hand, we can progress you towards recovery!

Posture Assessment

Postural analysis enables us to perform a skilled assessment of your habitual postures in static or dynamic positions including standing, walking, sitting and more. This is a great way to assess how your habitual postures, repeated movements and sustained positions impact your day-to-day experience in your body, what areas become imbalance and how to correct them for health, wellness and comfort.

Exercise Prescription

As we discover what elements your body requires for optimal balance and structural support, we will craft and progress a highly individualized exercise and movement program that is specific to what your body needs.

Video Analysis

Video analysis is an excellent tool in conjunction with direct observation. This allows us to slow down your movements and assess what your mechanics are in a split second. This is exceptionally helpful when assessing dynamic movements such as yoga, walking, running, cycling and stairs.

Gait evaluation

Gait evaluation is critical for walking and running comfort as well as efficiency of movement. Our goal is to assess your automatic patterns and help to make your motion more efficient and comfortable within your inherent, self-selected pattern.
We will also assess your strength, mobility, flexibility, gait patterns and shoe wear to assure you have the right support for your body from inside and out- and then develop a plan and exercise prescription to meet your body’s needs.

Running analysis

Running analysis at KPT will be centered around you and your movement efficiency along with your shoe wear. It may include visual observation, hands-on assessment &/or video analysis. We will assess your strength, posture, range of motion, mobility and movement patterns as they pertain to your running, then work to optimize them. This helps to reduce strain and pain in your musculoskeletal system, prevent injury and improve mechanical efficiency. If we are currently treating you for an orthopedic condition which is impacting or is by your running, this may be billable to your insurance.

Bike fitting

Bring your bike in and put it up on the trainer for a biomechanical bike fit! We can take the time to assess your strength, mobility, flexibility, cycling form and movement patterns to make sure that your body’s capacity for movement matches the frame you are riding. We can make adjustments accordingly as well as create a specialized and individualized exercise program to support your goals for riding. This helps to reduce strain and pain in your musculoskeletal system, prevent injury and improve mechanical efficiency. If we are currently treating you for an orthopedic condition which is impacting your cycling or is impacted by your cycling, this may be billable to your insurance. When appropriate, we will develop a list of components you may acquire at your favorite cycling shop!

Manual therapy

Manual physical therapy utilizes skilled, hands-on, active and passive intervention techniques. We may incorporate techniques such as joint or soft tissue mobilization, neural mobilization, ASTYM™, strain/counterstrain, and muscle energy and mobilization with movement.

Pre- & post-partum care

There are many ways in which we can help support your evolving body both pre- and post-partum. Due to the changes in your breathing, muscular, skeletal and organ systems, coupled with your ever-changing center of gravity, physical therapy is a critical part of your comfort, preparation and recovery from delivery. In both vaginal and cesarean birth, there are impacts to the abdominal wall and pelvic floor muscles which greatly benefit from physical therapy support. In addition, we will help with positioning needs for sleeping and nursing.

ASTYM™

ASTYM™ is a specialized manual treatment technique that utilizes fiberglass instruments to activate the regenerative mechanisms of the body. These specially designed tools and protocols engage the body to resorb problematic scar tissue and stimulate soft tissue healing.

Craniosacral therapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a very gentle, hands-on approach that releases tension in the body. It incorporates very light touch to facilitate release in the membranes that surround and support the spinal cord. It is highly effective in treating conditions such as facial & jaw pain, headaches, post-concussive symptoms and so much more!

Visceral mobilization

Visceral mobilization or manipulation is a gentle manual technique used to assess and treat restrictions in the mobility within and around the organs of the body. It can be especially effective in treating digestive difficulties, post-operative scar tissue restrictions and much more. These challenges may present after a fall, a car wreck, a surgery or may come on insidiously.

Dance medicine

Dance medicine is a subspecialty of general medicine meant to promote the physical and emotional health and well-being of dancers of all abilities, styles, and ages. It encompasses injury prevention, injury rehabilitation, and movement education tailored specifically to dancers to promote a safe return to dance classes and performance.
